A resolution favorably endorsing to the House of Representatives through the office of Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez Jr. the proposal for the re-apportionment of the Lone District of Bacolod into two districts was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.
Those who voted in favor were Councilors Caesar Distrito, Em Legaspi-Ang, Homer Bais, Al Victor Espino, Roberto Rojas, Kevin Ramos and Diosdado Valenzuela, while those who abstained were Councilors Catalino Alisbo, El Cid Familiaran and Archie Baribar.

The Department of Agriculture assured the administration of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III of stable supply and prices of basic commodities despite the damage wrought by the El Niño on farm crops, a government press release said.
"As of now, supply and price situations are very stable, practically for all commodities," Director Romeo Recide of the DA’s Bureau of Agricultural Statistics said when asked whether the incoming Aquino administration would have to deal with high food prices.

The contracts of 63 co-terminus and 318 contractual employees of the Negros Occidental provincial government end tomorrow, and the fate of those who will be rehired depend on incoming Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr.
All 381 co-terminus and casual employees are considered terminated by July 1 unless reappointed by the governor-elect, his Chief of Staff, Jose Ma. Valencia, said yesterday.
Marañon yesterday told the DAILY STAR he is retaining Valencia as chief of staff and legal officer, and Enrique Pinongan as provincial administrator.

The Social Security System has announced a new amnesty program for business owners who have failed to remit their employees’ loan amortizations that were due on April 1, 2010, an SSS press release said.
The new amnesty complements a similar ongoing program that condones penalties on delinquent contributions of employers, SSS President and Chief Executive Officer, Romulo Neri said in the press release.

Central Negros Electric Cooperative must work this early to negotiate with power producers to address the problem of brownouts, Oscar Esler, a candidate for a seat in the CENECO Board representing District 2, said yesterday.
The election for District 2 representative to the CENECO Board is on Saturday and the other contender for the position is Arnel Lapore of Pahanocoy, a lawyer and Certified Public Accountant.
Esler said CENECO should negotiate with power producers, especially Green Core, since it is the biggest and cheapest power supplier within the area being situated in Negros Oriental.

The Energy Regulatory Commission has granted Central Negros Electric Cooperative provisional authority to charge its consumers an additional 22 centavos per kilowatt hour on top of the rate hikes being sought by the National Power Corp.
The additional 22 centavos wheeling rate is intended for CENECO’s rehabilitation and maintenance work, the cooperative’s manager, Sulpicio Lagarde, said yesterday.
ERC will conduct an evidentiary hearing on rules setting its wheeling rates 10 a.m. today at the CENECO 3rd Floor Annex Building in Bacolod City.

Foreign nationals found working anywhere in the country without an Alien Employment Permit or with an expired AEP will be fined P10,000, Bureau of Local Employment director Criselda Sy said in a Department of Labor and Employment press release.
Sy made the statement at the recent Training on Alien Employment Regulation Program in Iloilo City.
Under Department Order No. 97-09, series of 2009, the DOLE will impose a fine of P10,000 for every year or a fraction of it on foreign nationals found working without an AEP or with an expired AEP, the press release said.
